Melanie Lutz is an award winning writer, director, producer committed to exploring the nuances and resilience of the human spirit. She creates projects that push the boundaries of the everyday. As a writer, she develops quirky, iconic, indomitable characters that promote self discovery. Her work with a list of A-list Stars, Major Brands and Top Entertainment Companies has delivered block busting, high rating success. Mel has a unique way of magnifying as Walt Disney promoted “the dreams and wishes the heart makes” and spinning them into soul satisfying entertainment. Her 15 years of experience crafting, developing and creating work that sells puts her in high demand as an inspirational entrepreneurial visionary.
Influenced by childhood viewings of classic films through WWOR-TV New York’s channel 9, she became addicted to Billy Wilder, Ernst Lubitsch, George Stevens, The Three Stooges and Abbott and Costello films. With a voracious appetite for books, a love of musicals and an overactive imagination the path was set for a young girl growing up near a dairy farm in Pennsylvania to tackle the arts.
Mel worked her way through high school and college producing and promoting live events with (to highlight a few) Jerry Seinfeld, Aerosmith, Guns & Roses.
Moving to Los Angeles she opened her first Entertainment Company with one client, Vince Vaughn, landing him his first major motion picture and introducing him to Jon Favreau. She supported the two men through idea, development and sale of the landmark indie buddy movie “SWINGERS” building her business into a full service management and production company representing actors, developing writers, and producing for directors. She created and launched one of the first Internet Studios (all digital) with the Sundance Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival, Variety, Microsoft and London Premiere Screenings eventually selling the Studios and Technology leading the way for Netflix.
Upcoming feature projects include “SINGLEDOM” and “VANESSA BY THE SEA.”
As an Author, Mel’s highly acclaimed book “THE BARE MELCESITIES: WALKING OUT. WAKING UP. GETTING BARE.” is a written self portrait of a year spent starting over after a divorce. It is her version of getting back to the basics, of baring it all, and sharing an experience through a spiritual journey in search of enlightenment. Her new work LOVE LAND is a collection of loving thoughts and essays in one impactful book to light bulb the way through any change, with love, will be releasing digitally for Valentine’s Day and in hard cover for Fall 2011.
Mel’s award winning Production Company, Always Alice, creates projects that bridge the worlds of art and commerce, meaning and media, all presented through an ever expanding inward lens of humanity and exhibition.
Melanie was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania and lives and works in Beverly Hills, California.
